BPAY
The Pitt Crew provided support to BPAY over several years, which included our expertise in the following:
- In the role of ‘Procurement Authority’, leading the selection and procurement of the core technology to implement a planned national real-time payments platform, including data centres, network facilities, hardware infrastructure and software solutions.
- In parallel to the procurement of data centre facilities to support the new payments platform, The Pitt Crew developed a strategy for the migration of all other BPAY IT services from its existing data centres into the new environments.
- In preparation for the implementation of the new payments platform, The Pitt Crew was engaged to lead a comprehensive IT Service Transformation Program. Tasked with 'raising the bar' in all aspects of the management and delivery of Information Services, the Program adopted a holistic approach to IT Service Transformation, addressing issues of People, Process and Tools to ensure that BPAY’s investments achieve sustainable improvement for the long term. Achievements included:
- selection and deployment of a new IT Service Management (SaaS) platform and the roll out of new Incident Management, Change Control and other ITIL processes;
- adoption of 'contemporary practice' in Applications Development (based on Agile methods), Information Security and IT Project Management; and
- the establishment of sound IT governance, including a new Architecture Review Board, and the revitalisation of the Project Control Board and Change Advisory Board.
Community First Bank
The Pitt Crew has been a trusted consulting partner of Community First Bank for many years, during which time our work has included:
- Core banking systems strategy evaluation
- Management of the bank’s core banking system replacement program, achieved on time and within budget against ambitious targets
- Technology selection including VOIP telephony, Mobile Banking and Middleware
- Setup and mentoring for strategic programs including CUSCAL Payments switching, Elcom and NBCU mergers, Core
- Banking System upgrade and Mortgage Origination System implementation.

Experteq, formerly Transaction Solutions (TAS), the leading provider of managed technology solutions to Australian mutual banks, has utilised the services of The Pitt Crew over many years, during which time:
- The Pitt Crew was engaged to develop the Access Control policies and associated procedures to meet stringent requirements and align to new supporting technology
- The Pitt Crew was also invited to assess the current patch management processes and status and develop new policy and procedure for identifying, assessing, and applying patches to key software and platforms in a controlled and auditable fashion
- The Pitt Crew was engaged to manage the update of the organisation’s Business Continuity Plan
- Other engagements have included facilitating the development of experteq’s business strategy, revising its IT outsourcing policy, and assisting them go to market for a specialist IT resource acquisition strategy.
Finsure
The Pitt Crew has been a trusted consulting partner for Finsure over many years. Our work has included:
- CRM solution architecture review
- Cyber security review and development of key security policies including Information Security Management, Change Control and SDLC.
- Assistance in developing robust and pragmatic Disaster Recovery and BCP strategies, policies and delivery playbooks, including development and execution of a BCP test strategy.
- Building the future system vision and architecture foundations for a move to the cloud and transformation of Finsure’s core systems
- Facilitating the RFP process to select a strategic delivery partner for Finsure’s digital transformation program.
- Program management support and Governance leadership in the IT transformation program.
Illawarra Credit Union
The Pitt Crew has assisted ICU with a number of business and technology initiatives, including:
- Process improvement assessment of ICU’s home lending capability, identifying key gaps and inefficiencies, and defining prioritised quick wins to rapidly improve mortgage efficiency from sales channels through to Unconditional Approval
- Detailed assessment of ICU’s operational risk capability in line with APRA’s CPS 230 standards. This included a detailed gap analysis and prioritised recommendations to meet compliance milestones consummate with the size and complexity of the organisation.
MyState
The Pitt Crew has assisted MyState with a number of business and technology initiatives, including to:
- Review defects outstanding and related workarounds in place following the core banking system implementation, and quantify their business impacts, both in terms of existing business operations and in the context of MyState’s strategic business goals
- Assess the IT service model in place, and to develop a preferred model for the effective support and development of the banking system implementations at MyState and its acquisition; The Rock
- Review and update MyState’s IT Outsourcing Risk Assessment checklist to ensure it continues to comply with APRA requirements and Australian Privacy Principles as they relate to ‘cloud services’, and assist MyState with the assessment of a proposed ‘cloud CRM’ implementation
- Develop a target solution architecture and implementation roadmap to support MyState’s strategic goals in Wealth Management and help MyState build the business case for change
- Detailed assessment and improvement recommendations for MyState’s consolidated commercial lending capability (via TPT Wealth). This included planning and supporting the commercial lending transformation program to deliver on the recommendations.
Sunnyfield Disability Services
Sunnyfield is a member based, registered not-for-profit charity with a mission to enrich the lives of people with intellectual disability. Employing over 1500 staff in NSW and the ACT, day to day Sunnyfield delivers nearly 2,000 support services for people with disability, including children, teenagers, adults and seniors. Over several years, Sunnyfield engaged The Pitt Crew to support a number of initiatives, including:
- Facilitating the shortlisting and selection of a preferred provider of data centre co-location (CoLo) services
- Assessment of the suitability of shortlisted care management and rostering systems to meet Sunnyfield’s requirements, identification interfaces required between these and Sunnyfield’s other systems, and assessment of the risks associated with the proposed strategy
- Assess the business case for the adoption of ‘cloud computing’ for components of Sunnyfield’s information systems, as part of the 3-year strategic plan
- Leading the development of the business continuity plan (BCP) for Sunnyfield’s primary location BCP, covering all facilities at that location including Head Office operations; Residential centres; and Disability Enterprises (packaging and TGA-approved filling line) facility
Tasmanian State Government
Over a number of years, The Pitt Crew provided advice and guidance to the Tasmanian State Government’s ‘IT shared services’ organisation – TMD, part of the Department of Premier & Cabinet. Relevant engagements include:
- Oversight of the Modern Communications Program (MCP) – a Program to implement an outsourced whole-of-government managed VOIP solution to over 20,000 end points in 80+ government and quasi-government organisations at over 600 locations throughout Tasmania
- Undertaking an ‘end of phase review’ to assess the readiness for deployment of the MCP solution, including consideration of business processes for the initial deployment and ongoing management of the service
- Leading the development of a Service Integration and Management (SIAM) framework for the management of end-to-end multi-vendor services
- Facilitating the development of TMD’s business planning and providing oversight and assistance to the design and implementation of the transformation of TMD’s Service Delivery capability.
In addition, The Pitt Crew has assisted other Tasmanian government departments, including:
- End to end review of IT capability for the Department of Health and Human Services
- Post-Implementation Review of 5 year, $22m Motor Vehicle Registration and Driver Licensing system
